A new poll shows Democrat Terry McAulffe continuing his lead over Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the race to be Virginia's next governor.
Forty-six percent of likely voters say they support McAuliffe, while 38 percent back Cuccinelli. Libertarian Robert Sarvis received support from 9 percent of those polled.
The poll also shows 53 percent of Virginians approve the job of Governor Bob McDonnell, while 31 percent disapprove.
When it comes to who is mostly to blame for the government shutdown, 53 percent of Virginians say the Republicans in Congress are more at fault. Twenty-nine percent of those polled say it was President Barack Obama's fault, and 15 percent think each is equally to blame.
The poll surveyed 1,212 Virginians between Oct. 13th and Oct. 15th, and was done by NBC News and Marist College.
