President Barack Obama is lending his political clout to Democrat Terry McAuliffe's campaign for governor.

McAuliffe will face off against Republican Ken Cuccinelli this Tuesday. It is expected to be a close race, though the Board of Elections is saying voter turnout could be as low as 30 percent.

Recent polls show McAuliffe ahead and out-spending his opponent by a large margin.

The president rallied for the Democratic nominee saying he knows McAuliffe will work hard for the commonwealth.

"He cares deeply about the opportunities that this country has given him and he wants to make sure that those opportunities are there for everybody, not just for a few," Obama said at a rally in an Arlington high school.

McAuliffe has had help from former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to lend a hand to McAuliffe on Monday.

Cuccinelli rallied voters at the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Harrisonburg on Sunday afternoon. Over the past few days, he's garnered support from big names like Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Paul Ryan.

Joining him at the Harrisonburg rally was Republican attorney general candidate Mark Obenshain.

Cuccinelli continued to push supporters to get out the on Tuesday, saying the Republican ticket won't be able to win without their help.

"We need you to put the time and effort in," Cuccinelli said. "Get outside of your comfort zone, wear those stickers all day, prompt people to ask you questions."

Cuccinelli will continue his tour on Monday with a stop at the Albemarle GOP headquarters in Albemarle Square.
