Supporters of Ron Paul are opening the Republican presidential hopeful's Virginia campaign headquarters.
The state office in Norfolk is scheduled to open Tuesday to coincide with the first contest of the primary season in Iowa.
It will officially open with a public reception between 7 and 9 p.m.
Campaign volunteer Wally Erb told the Virginian-Pilot that the office will serve as a recruitment and training center for campaign volunteers. It also will serve as a distribution hub for campaign literature throughout the state.
Erb says the decision to locate the state headquarters in Norfolk came in response to a strong pitch by local Paul supporters who consider southeastern Virginia a potential stronghold.
Paul's national campaign headquarters is in Springfield, Va.
