Senator Tim Kaine is cancelling his appearance at higher-education events in Virginia to head back to Washington, DC.
Kaine was scheduled to tour new facilities at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical School on Tuesday morning, and then speak at the University of Virginia's Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy in the afternoon.
The senator will instead be attending hearings in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the authorization of U.S. military action in Syria.
Kaine’s trips to VCU and UVa were to be the first in a series of events at higher education facilities throughout the week.
