Fifth District Congressman Robert Hurt was in Charlottesville Monday morning to campaign with 17th District State Senate candidate Bryce Reeves.
With election day less than a month away, candidates are on the campaign trail trying to secure as many votes as possible. Reeves is running against longtime Democratic incumbent Edd Houck.
With time running out before the Nov. 8 election, some television ad campaigns are heating up and pulling no punches. Reeves says he doesn't pay much attention to his opponent's message.
"I don't really look at what my opponent does. I look at how we respond and what our message is," he explained. "I think our message is very pro-outlook and I like it. Our message is one of optimism and one of hope, and we're going to bring that change."
Houck has represented the 17th District since 1984. Post redistricting, the district includes parts of Albemarle, Culpeper, Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania counties and the City of Fredericksburg.
