Del. David Toscano introduced himself to his newest constituents at a town hall meeting on Monday.
"People weigh in on a wide variety of issues and we just have an interchange. I think that's the best way people learn about their Delegate, and also helps me understand what's on their minds," said Toscano.
The purpose of the town hall was to get to know members of the Cale precinct of the 57th District. As of July 1, the Cale and Woodbrook precincts will fall under Toscano's district.
"I've been taking notes in my head about things that are important to these folks and hopefully I'll be able to use that when I get to Richmond," said Toscano. "It's on a wide variety of things from legislation that I haven't introduced to how I'd vote on the budget".
The change stems from the redistricting bill the General Assembly approved earlier this year.
"We don't really have a campaign going on right now, so we can do this in a relatively nonpartisan, non-adversarial way, just introduce ourselves to the voters and talk about issues that might be on their mind," Toscano said.
So far, Toscano remains unopposed in his re-election campaign. The town hall will took place at 6 p.m. Monday at Cale Elementary School.
