As Del. David Toscano (D-57th District) kicks off his re-election campaign, he's prepared to welcome some new voters.
Toscano held his kick-off fish fry at Tonsler Park Sunday afternoon.
November's election comes with new district lines long debated in the General Assembly. Under the new plan, the 57th District now includes constituents in the Kale and Woodbrook precincts of Albemarle County while losing the Ivy and Jack Jouett precincts.
"In the end, this redistricting plan was an incumbent protection plan," Toscano said. "I didn't support it. I hope the next time we do it, we have a different approach to the process."
Toscano said his No. 1 issue is education. He said he expects an opponent this fall, but so far, he is running unopposed.
