The Democratic firehouse primary in Charlottesville is just two days away, but there's still time to register to vote if you're not already signed up.
Voters will select three candidates from a list of seven Democrats running for the party's nomination for Charlottesville City Council. One Democratic Clerk of Court candidate will also be nominated.
Anyone still needing to register to vote or who has changed addresses since the last local election can stop by the registrar's office in the City Hall Annex by 4:30pm Friday afternoon. That will give residents the opportunity to have a say in the nomination process, whether they consider themselves Democratic, Republican of something else.
“Even though this firehouse primary is being run by the Democrats, anybody who's a registered voter in the City of Charlottesville is eligible to participate,” said local registrar Sheri Iachetta.
The Democratic firehouse primary will take place on Saturday, August 20 at Burley Middle School on Rose Hill Drive. Voting will be open from 9am to 7pm.
