President Obama reached out to Republican leaders Thursday to kick start negotiations on the “sequester”.
The President called House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell to talk about the automatic budget cuts.
Congress has been on recess this week and when they get back next week, they'll have four days to work out a deal before the cuts will kick in.
Neither the White House nor aides to the Republican leaders discussed the details of the phone calls.
