Greene County school students stood and marched in solidarity Tuesday in a show of mutual respect.
All of the school system's students came together at the football field for Rachel's Challenge, a program that promotes kindness and compassion.
The program is inspired by Rachel Scott, a victim of the Columbine High School shooting.
The goal is to have students emulate her behavior and show respect to their classmates.
"This is kind of our celebration where we come together as a school system. All of the students get to understand that they're not isolated from one school to another, but everybody has been joining together to treat others with kindness," said Margery Farner, the school system's director of accountability and student achievement.
The schools-wide event is a culmination of projects each school has done throughout the year to recognize students' acts of kindness.
