Students Perform Concert on Downtown Mall

July 25, 2014

A group of young musicians got the chance to play on the Downtown Mall Friday thanks to a special arts academy in the area.

Students from across Central Virginia participated in the Summer Fine Arts Academy 2014’s "Learning from the Heart". The program ran for a week this month and allowed young artists to strengthen their talents.

"I got to hear new jazz musicians every day,” said Nora Dale, Albemarle High School student. “I got to hear them play, and I got to play afterwards again so I can try to do some stuff they we're doing and change how I played based on how they we're playing."

The academy focused on a wide range of art forms, and the finale was their performance on the Downtown Mall.
