Woodbrook Elementary School Cuts the Ribbon on New Outdoor Learning Center

June 11, 2014

Students at Woodbrook Elementary School in Albemarle County are showing off their new outdoor learning center.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Wednesday morning.

Third graders at Woodbrook spent 9 months designing and constructing the outdoor learning space, which includes a chalkboard, picnic tables and movable stools.

The area is also equipped with hanging bird feeders and bat boxes on the surrounding trees to encourage visits from local wildfire.

Beginning next school year, the students will pass the project on to the new third grade class, who will research and add to the project.
