Virginia authorities say 13 people were arrested in a crackdown on smoking at restaurants in the Falls Church area.
Responding to months of complaints, police arrested nine smokers for lighting up at a group of Vietnamese restaurants in Eden Center over the weekend.
Four more people were arrested for allowing smoking in their establishments.
Falls Church officials say those arrested were issued citations and fines. Virginia officials say these are the first known citations under the state's recent limitations on smoking in restaurants.
Violators can face $25 fines.
