Virginia's annual ban on feeding deer is now in effect. The ban went into effect Wednesday and will continue through the first Saturday in January for most parts of the Commonwealth.
Clarke, Frederick, Shenandoah and Warren counties are under a year-round ban as part of a state management plan for chronic wasting disease.
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries says feeding deer can create several problems, including disease transmission and overpopulation of deer.
