Panel Proposes Four-Day Workweek for Va. Agencies

September 14, 2010

A commission formed to streamline government is recommending a four-day workweek for some state and local agencies.

"The Richmond Times-Dispatch" reports that members of Gov. Bob McDonnell's Reform and Restructuring Commission unanimously supported the recommendation Monday.

The commission said a four-day workweek would reduce energy and custodial costs and improve employee morale.

Other cost-saving recommendations include eliminating the state's 50 toll-free numbers and setting up guidelines for eliminating boards and commissions.
