Va. Prisoner Re-entry Program Receives $1.5M in Federal Funds

September 16, 2010

Gov. Bob McDonnell says Virginia has secured $1.5 million in federal funds for the state's new prisoner re-entry program.

The largest funding component totals $750,000 for six areas of the state that have established re-entry councils. They include localities in central, northern and southwest Virginia, as well as Norfolk and Richmond.

The McDonnell administration's prisoner re-entry program is aimed at preventing former offenders from offending anew.
