Swimming Ban Lifted at Va. Beach

September 16, 2010

Health officials say bacteria levels in the water at Huntington Beach in Newport News have dropped to safe levels.

The Peninsula Health District has lifted a swimming advisory issued last week for the beach. The advisory was prompted by tests that found high levels of enterococci in the water.

The district says new samples taken Tuesday show bacteria levels have dropped and the water meets state standards for recreational waters.
