Va. Teen Suffers Head Injuries in Scooter Crash

September 17, 2010

A teenager from Waynesboro is in the hospital, after police say he ran his homemade scooter into a car Thursday afternoon.

Police say the crash happened at the intersection of Ivanhoe Avenue and B Street at about 3 p.m. They say the 17-year-old ran a stop sign and hit a car.

The teen was not wearing a helmet and his head hit the windshield. It is illegal for minors to ride on scooters in the city without a helmet.

He was airlifted to the University of Virginia Medical Center, and he is listed in stable condition.
