3 Dead, 4 Injured in Va. Townhome Fire

September 22, 2010

A fire that broke out in a Lorton townhouse has killed three people, including two children.

Fairfax County fire officials say three other children and an adult were rescued from the home Wednesday morning. They were taken to Washington Hospital Center's burn unit, some with life-threatening injuries.

Fire department spokesman Willie Bailey tells WTOP Radio it was a "really horrific" event. When firefighters arrived, he says they found flames coming from every window in the home.

More than 60 firefighters were called to battle the two-alarm blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
