400 Va. National Guard Members Mobilized for Duty in Iraq

About 400 members of the Virginia National Guard are being mobilized for duty in Iraq.

Adjutant Gen. Maj. Daniel E. Long Jr. says in a news release that the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment will undergo mobilization training at Fort Hood, Texas, before deploying to Iraq.

The active duty begins February 25, 2011 and will be for up to 400 days.

The 2nd Battalion has 30 Black Hawk helicopters, a maintenance company, headquarters company and forward support company.
