Missing Va. Teen Found Safe, Former Deputy Arrested

November 9, 2011

A missing Virginia teenager has been found in Kentucky and a former sheriff's deputy who police say she was traveling with has been arrested.

Virginia State Police officials said at a news conference that Kentucky law enforcement officers arrested 47-year-old Earnest William Grubbs at a gas station in Rush, Ky., Wednesday morning. Sixteen-year-old Audrey Marie McCombs was found uninjured.

The Liberty High School sophomore was last seen at her home in Bedford County at 9 p.m. Sunday.

Media outlets report that Grubbs was fired from his job as a resource officer at the school following his arrest last month on 12 counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
