October 26, 2010

Police have arrested an 18-year-old Virginia man following a shooting at a hotel that left another man in life-threatening condition.

William C. Richards was arrested Sunday and charged with malicious wounding.

Police responded to reports of a shooting Saturday at a Courtyard Marriott hotel in Springfield. Police say uninvited visitors had tried to attend a party hosts had announced on Facebook. During an altercation in front of the hotel a 21-year-old man was shot. The man was transported to a hospital and is in life-threatening condition.

Richards, of Lorton, was arrested at the home of a friend in Alexandria. The investigation is ongoing.
