RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond police say the fatal shootings of a couple appear to be a murder-suicide.
The shootings occurred Saturday afternoon at a residence.
Police say evidence indicates that 38-year-old Clarence Friend Taylor II shot 33-year-old Christine Mae Squire and fired at police officers who came to the residence to check on Squire's welfare. The officers exchanged gunfire with Taylor and then left the residence.
Police said Sunday in a news release that Taylor then shot himself.
Members of the police department's SWAT team later entered the residence and found the bodies of Taylor and Squire.
Two officers shot during the incident were treated at a local hospital and released.
