Feds: Va. Woman Told Neighbors She's FBI Official

March 29, 2010

An Arlington woman has been charged with impersonating an FBI agent after neighbors say she fooled them into taking jobs as her assistant.

Twenty-nine-year-old Brenna Reilly was indicted by a federal grand jury in Alexandria last week.

According to a court affidavit, Reilly told neighbors in her apartment complex that she was the FBI's Director of Forensics. Two of those neighbors agreed to work as Reilly's assistant and filled out purported job applications that included information like Social Security numbers.

She gave the assistants tasks that included writing letters of condolence to family members of agents killed in the line of duty. But authorities say Reilly was never an FBI agent and the jobs were phony.

Her lawyer declined comment.
