Former Va. Cop Pleads Guilty to Mail Fraud

March 31, 2010

A former Norfolk police officer has pleaded guilty to mail fraud involving faking the theft of his own car.

Prosecutors say 26-year-old Ethan J. Love admitted Tuesday that he vandalized his older model Mercedes Benz, then reported it stolen and sent in a phony insurance claim to pay off his car loan in July 2009. Love was an officer at the time.

Love is scheduled to be sentenced June 22.
