Virginia Tech Panel Approves Tuition, Fee Increases

April 23, 2010

In-state undergraduate students at Virginia Tech will pay an additional $854 in tuition and fees for the 2010-2011 academic year.

The increase approved Friday by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors Executive Committee will raise in-state tuition and fees to $9,589.

Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students living on campus will increase by $1,320 to $15,879. Out-of-state undergraduates who live off campus will pay $23,217, an increase of $1,339.

In-state graduate students will pay $10,933, up from $10,228. Tuition and fees for out-of-state graduate students will rise from $17,928 to 19,957.

Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger says declines in state funding have forced the school to shift costs to students.
