Va. Soldier Dies in Non-Combat Incident in Iraq

The Department of Defense reports that a Stryker solider from Joint Base Lewis-McChord has died in a non-combat incident in Iraq.

Thirty-five-year-old Staff Sgt. Christopher D. Worrell of Virginia Beach, Virginia died April 22 in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 702nd Combat Support Battalion, 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.

According to military records, Worrell has been based at Fort Lewis since 1998. He was assigned to the Stryker Brigade in 2005 and was in his second tour of duty in Iraq.
