Arlington County Police say a man has died after officers used a stun gun to subdue him.

Officers responded to a report of a psychiatric emergency at the Wildwood Park apartments on Columbia Pike around 12:45 a.m. Friday and found a distressed man inside an apartment.

Police say the unclothed man refused all verbal commands and was combative with the officers. That's when police say an officer used a stun gun to control the man. Moments later, officers noticed the man was no longer breathing.

Medics already on the scene took the man to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police have not released the man's identity, but say he was visiting family at the apartment.

The department's homicide and robbery and internal affairs units are investigating the incident.
