Va. Man Gets 21 Years on Child-porn Convictions

May 6, 2010

A Virginia man who told police about a child pornography collection they didn't know existed has been ordered to serve 21 years in prison.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jason Michael Doughty was sentenced on Wednesday in Fredericksburg Circuit Court to a total 74 years in prison on 25 possession of child pornography convictions. The judge suspended all but 21 years.

Authorities say Doughty was stopped in September because he resembled the composite drawing of a suspect in another case. He agreed to talk to detectives and during the conversation, he gave information linking him to child pornography.

Doughty gave police permission to search his home. They found hundreds of pictures depicting children in sexual poses and acts. They also found books he had ordered from the Internet and child-size dolls.
