Va. Holds Summit on Childhood Obesity Prevention

May 18, 2010

Virginia is holding its first statewide summit on preventing childhood obesity.

Organizers say the "Weight of the State" conference will help determine what steps to take to fight childhood obesity.

The conference began Monday afternoon in Richmond with exhibits and a workshop.

Sessions scheduled Tuesday will examine childhood obesity rates in Virginia, approaches to addressing the problem and other topics.

The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth and Prevention Connections is sponsoring the conference.
