May 20, 2010

The federal prosecutor for western Virginia has announced a new task force to crack down on health care fraud.

U.S. Attorney Tim Heaphy said Wednesday that the task force will include representatives from several state and federal agencies. He said the goal is to share information and figure out how to work together to combat the growing problem of health care fraud.

The Western Virginia Health Care Fraud Task Force will be chaired by Jennie Waering, an assistant U.S. attorney.

Heaphy also announced creation of a toll-free number for people to report suspected health care fraud. The number is 1-877-344-4743.
