State Police to Honor Fallen Officers

May 21, 2010

Law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty will be honored by the Virginia State Police at the agency's annual memorial service.

The Virginia State Police 2010 Police Officers' Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday in the state police gymnasium on the Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County.

State police say 11 troopers killed in the line of duty will be honored with a special tribute. They include Inspector Thomas Belt, who died in 1930 from injuries received in a motorcycle wreck in Loudon County.

Gov. Bob McDonnell will be the keynote speaker for Friday's ceremony.
