Man Arrested after Gun is Reported Stolen

May 25, 2010

Prince William County police say a man who reported a gun stolen after officers recovered it when he fled has been arrested.

Police conducting a traffic stop Friday in Dale City found a gun underneath a passenger's shirt. The passenger escaped, but police recovered the gun.

The next day, another officer, taking a report of a stolen gun, found that it was the same gun recovered in the previous incident.

Both officers went to the suspect's home on Sunday and arrested him.

Twenty-eight-year-old Robert Steven Barnes of Alexandria is being held on a concealed weapon charge.
