Virginia Man Dies in Maryland Police Custody

May 25, 2010

Montgomery County police say a Virginia man who began having seizures while in police custody has died.

Police say they responded to the 14600 block of Devereaux Terrace in North Potomac on Monday for a call about drug activity. They found several people in a black SUV.

Police say officers questioned 34-year-old Folahan Olawole Oladeinde, who was in the driver's seat, and found that he was wanted on unrelated charges. When they took him into custody, they noticed that he was chewing on something. Officers called emergency responders in case Oladeinde had ingested a drug. He died at a hospital.

Officers found a small amount of crack cocaine in the SUV. Police say they are investigating the death and an autopsy is planned.
