Former Sheriff's Deputy Killed in Motorcycle Crash with Deer

A motorcyclist was killed when he hit a deer on Route 50 in Clarke County Sunday.

Police say 54-year-old David Kackley of Gore, a former Frederick County Sheriff's deputy, died at the scene of the wreck.

The crash occurred around 8:10pm Sunday night near Route 255.

Police say Kackley, who was wearing a helmet, was driving west when he hit the deer. The motorcycle caught fire in the crash, but crews were able to put it out.
