Va. Teens Charged with Carrying Loaded Gun on Bus

June 2, 2010

Authorities say a 16-year-old Goochland High School student and his 14-year-old sister are facing charges for allegedly bringing a loaded pistol on a county school bus.

Goochland Sheriff James Agnew says both students were charged Tuesday with possession of a firearm on school property.

The brother and sister are accused of carrying a .22-caliber revolver on the school bus. Police and school administrators found the gun in a book bag during a search after being tipped about the weapon.

Agnew says the boy acknowledged that he brought the gun to school for "protection" and gave the gun to his sister to hide when he got scared.
