A young mother in Richmond has been charged with child neglect after leaving her two children inside a hot car.
Police rescued the children after receiving reports they were locked inside the car outside of a community center. Police say the mother was arrested shortly after the children were removed from the vehicle.
One child was hers, while the other was the child of a friend.
"I know that it can seem inconvenient and maybe you think you're just running in for a minute," child advocate Peg Ruggiero said. "But you've got to take your children with you."
Police say the temperature inside the vehicle was around 90 degrees.
