2 in Virginia Beach Treated after Rabies Exposure

June 11, 2010

Two people are being treated after a run-in with a rabid fox at a Virginia Beach park.

Virginia Beach officials say the victims encountered the critter on a walking trail at Mount Trashmore Park on Thursday. The fox was sent to the Norfolk Department of Public Health for testing.

Among other things, the city advises pet owners to keep them close to home and make sure to vaccinate them for rabies. That's required by law.
