A Virginia Military Institute administrator resigned Tuesday morning after being charged with breaking and entering and petit larceny, WDBJ-CBS7 in Roanoke reports.

John Christian Hoffman resigned his job as an assistant athletic director at VMI Tuesday. Last week, Hoffman was accused of breaking into an apartment and stealing the underwear of two Washington and Lee students.

Hoffman is out on bail. His next court date is July 14.
