Officials: Boat Sinks in Va. River, Fuel Leaking

June 16, 2010

Authorities are working to contain fuel leaking from a 31-foot boat that has sunk into the Occoquan River.

Fairfax County fire and rescue department spokesman Capt. Willie Bailey says the boat was at the Fairfax Yacht Club when it went under water Wednesday afternoon. Bailey says people at the marina called to report the incident.

He says crews are placing booms to contain a small fuel leak. It's unclear whether the boat was tied to the dock or what caused it to become submerged.

Bailey says no one was on the boat.
