Va. Inmate Receives Another Three Years for Escape

June 21, 2010

An inmate will spend another three years behind bars for escaping from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail with a rope made from bed sheets.

Larry Wayne Dodson Jr. was sentenced Friday in Lynchburg Circuit Court. He had pleaded guilty in April to escape without force.

Prosecutors say Dodson climbed down from an outdoor recreational area and fled on March 10, 2009. He was captured April 5, 2009, in Port Wentworth, Ga. Dodson was serving a seven-year sentence for grand larceny and other charges at the time of the escape.

He received a seven-year sentence in Georgia last September for theft by receiving stolen property and other charges.
