Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of a hit-and-run boater involved in an accident that seriously injured a Virginia man.
Maryland Natural Resources Police announced the Metro Crime Stoppers reward on Wednesday. On June 5, a speedboat ran over 56-year-old Mark Gentile of Mount Jackson, Va., while he was swimming in the Chesapeake Bay by his sailboat near Thomas Point Light.
Natural Resources police are investigating the case and say at least one man and woman were on the boat. Gentile spent 10 days at a hospital and expects to spend at least 90 days at a care facility.
Anyone with information is asked to call 866-756-2587.
