Va. Woman Dead Before Car Crash; Police Investigate

June 29, 2010

Authorities have identified a 19-year-old woman they say died a suspicious death in a car crash in Virginia.

Fairfax County police on Monday identified the woman as Vanessa Pham, a northern Virginia native who had just finished her freshman year at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Authorities also confirmed she was dead before the crash.

Officials responded to a car crash Sunday afternoon on the eastbound lane of Route 50 near the intersection of Williams Drive and found Pham inside a 2008 Toyota. Officials said injuries on her upper body weren't consistent with the impact of the crash.
