Former Va. Legislator George W. Jones Dies

A funeral will be held Wednesday for George Wilson Jones, who served 16 years in the Virginia General Assembly.

Jones died Saturday, according to family members and the Woody Funeral Home. He was 83.

Jones represented Chesterfield County and Colonial Heights in the Legislature.

The Pennsylvania native was first elected to the General Assembly in 1969. He also headed Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign in Virginia.

In the Virginia House of Delegates, he became the senior Republican on the Finance Committee.
