Appomattox River Authority Water Customers Asked to Conserve

July 13, 2010

Chesterfield County residents are being asked to conserve water because of dry weather.

The county utilities department said Monday that the Appomattox River Authority requested the voluntary water conservation measures. Chesterfield County is a member of the authority.

Voluntary conservation measures include watering lawns on alternate days with no watering on Mondays, filling and replenishing swimming pools only to levels needed to maintain health and safety, and limiting washing noncommercial vehicles to two days per week.

The utilities department says further measures may not be needed if there is significant rainfall.
