Metro police say a man wanted in the sexual assault of a MetroAccess customer may have fled the country.
Transit officials say a customer claims that 31-year-old Fayyaz Tanveer sexually assaulted her last week in Montgomery County, after he picked her up at an adult day care center to take her home. But they say Tanveer, who is wanted on charges of second-degree rape and second-degree sex offense, may have fled on a flight to Qatar on Tuesday.
Metro police are working to get an international arrest warrant
for Fayyaz. Tanveer was contracted through MV Transportation to provide MetroAccess rides for disabled passengers who cannot take Metrorail or Metrobus. This is the third sexual assault case involving a
driver for MetroAccess this year.
