Police in Suffolk say a 30-year-old Navy SEAL is the victim of a deadly daredevil jump from a 1,000-foot cell phone tower in that southeastern Virginia locality.

The identity of Friday's jump victim has not been released. A jumping partner, also a Navy SEAL, was charged with trespassing.

Police said the two men are members of East Coast-based SEAL
teams.

Officials say the men were BASE jumping. That's a risky sport that involves leaping from fixed objects with a parachute.

The acronym BASE is derived from the four categories of objects from which participants jump: buildings, antennas, spans and earth.
