Gov. Bob McDonnell is asking Virginians to buy local food and everages.

McDonnell recently sent a letter to all Virginia business and industry leaders touting his "Choose the Commonwealth" initiative, asking them to seek out Virginia products.

McDonnell said he features Virginia wines and other locally grown and produced food and beverage products during events at the Executive Mansion.

McDonnell recognized the Northern Virginia Technology Council, which has a Virginia-only wine policy for all its events.

Agriculture Secretary Todd Haymore asked residents to share Virginia's wine and specialty foods with friends and colleagues here and abroad.

Haymore will accompany McDonnell to Europe next week to promote
Virginia wine and food exports.
