Virginia State Police are out in force this weekend patrolling two key interstates.

The increased patrols on Interstates 81 and 95 are part of the department's "Operation Air, Land and Speed" initiative to saturate highly traveled highways and keep them safe.

This weekend's edition began Saturday and ends at midnight Sunday.

The last time patrols targeted I-95 and I-81 in May resulted in more than 6,000 summonses and arrests.

The enforcement program uses troopers in cruisers, on
motorcycles and aviation teams.
