July 19, 2010

Clarke County authorities say a Maryland woman drowned in the Shenandoah River near Berryville.

Sheriff's Sgt. A.M. Feltner identified the victim as 64-year-old Andrea Hernandez of Riverdale, Md.

Feltner says Hernandez was camping with family when the accident occurred. The woman's son found her body in the river north of Watermelon Park on Saturday, about four hours after she was last seen.

The body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Fairfax.
